Dry Needling

Dry needling is used as to complement manual therapy where appropriate, placing fine needles into trigger points to release muscle tightness and support healing.

Dry needling is a western form of acupuncture. In acupuncture, fine filament needles are placed into meridians to unblock the flow of Chi or life force. With dry needling, the same fine filament needles are placed directly into trigger points (knots in the muscles). As these fine needles enter the trigger points, muscles relax, nervous tension is released, and the soft tissue becomes soft and supple, an ideal environment for optimal healing to take place.

It is a fantastic complement to "hands on" massage and mobilization/manipulation techniques for correcting soft tissue tension and restoring full joint freedom of movement allowing exercise to be more comfortable.
